Obi Kenobi!

Exhaustion is a fickle friend. Champagne and Strawberries while rehashing old crushes in lieu of doing your French devoirs is a great idea. Now I'm all exhausted from waking up at 7am to do them. Oh what a tangled web we weave.

I'm in a French Cinema and Conversation course, and it's really pretty amazing. We've watched a ton of movies, and I did an hour and a half presentation on Cyrano de Bergerac. It was pretty hard to convey totally in French the sheer poetry and amazingness of the Cyrano/Don Quixote comparisons with Quixote's windmills being giants and Cyrano's being compromise and falsehood, but I did alright. So fun.

I have epilepsy, and it blows. I'm applying for an epilepsy scholarship, and I need a letter of recommendation. I asked my boss to do it for me, and she gave it to me today. I'm posting it here because I'm really proud of my job, and being appreciated for it is one of the best feelings in the world. Plus, I'm a big fan of gloating.

"It is a pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Randi. Randi has worked as a Stacks Assistant within Jackson Library for over a year and a half. During her employment with our department I have found her work to be outstanding, she is always willing to help those in need and teamwork is one of her greatest assets. Due to her hard work she has been promoted to Lead Student Assistant this past summer.

Although Randi s up front about her condition, she does not use it as a crutch or way of getting out of work. If she is forced to miss a shift due to her condition, she promplty makes up the missed time.

Randi is a very positive person. She is the one person you can always count on to be smiling and who will having something good to say about even the worst situation . As a Lead Student Assistant, Randi is in charge of scheduling the student assistants which can at times be a rather stressful situation. Randi handles it with the grace and style of a true diplomat.

Randi can always be counted on to be helpful in any way she can, often times staying late or coming in early to help with training. She is truly one of those student employees that you wish would never graduate.

I feel that Randi is one of our up and coming stars of tomorrow and that with this scholarship she will be able to continue her academic career here at UNCG. She truly does not let her condition stand in her way, she works around it, through and past it, but it never gets the best of her."

How nice is that? Really nice. Even if I don't get the scholarship, this letter has really made me happy times a lot.

Now just to remind you that I'm really not that cool and, in reality, a complete dork, here is a video of Star Wars according to a three year old. I have to say that the part about Luke trying to hit the things coming out of the pokeball with his light up sword is the highlight, but the whole thing is pretty darn adorable.
